                  Meridian proposed solution was using a Microsoft Access 
                  database. The first part of the system had to integrate with 
                  a product called 'Teleform', which is used to scan the paper 
                  based forms into an Access database.  
                   
                  The QMC application would then manipulate and transform the 
                  data produced by Teleform into a more understandable format. 
                  Screens were developed toenable the users to view and modify 
                  the data before it is committed to the live system. 
                   
                  A number of reports were created which allows the user to request 
                  statistical information in an almost unlimited number of possible 
                  scenarios. 
                   
                  The system was also designed in such a way that when the next 
                  round of quality control forms are produced, the database actually 
                  creates most of the form for the engineer to help reduce the 
                  risk of human error.
