Meridian proposed a solution using Visual Basic and a
Microsoft Access. The system was written in such a way that it
could easily be scaled up to a SQL Server database at a later
date.
The complete system has been an ongoing development cycle with
the first phase taking approximately 2 months. Since then, extra
modules have been added to the system to enhance the features
and performance. The modularised layout of the system has meant
that enhancements to the system have been quick and seamless to
integrate.
The Pension Unit deals with about 20,000 cases a year and reports
are run periodically to analyse the time spent by the various
pension administrators dealing with each case.
The reports, written in Crystal Reports, were designed so that
Eastlands could create their own
reports for the system if they so desired.
The system is designed and built in so that Eastlands
has full control over the options within the application. For
example if a new activity type is required in the system, Eastlands
can use various administration screens to add or amend these details. |
